CWU's International Worker's Memorial Day 'Light Up Purple' Campaign

THOSE WHO PUT PROFIT ABOVE WORKER SAFETY SHOULD NEVER GO UNCHALLENGED - Tony Mulhearn IWMD 2019

The commitment to the annual International Worker's Memorial Day events in Liverpool, can be exemplified no better than the CWU ongoing campaign to have cities and towns light-up in purple; their public buildings, and major attractions, in order to highlight the loss of worker's lives during the undertaking of, or because of their jobs.

What started out as a Merseyside campaign, very quickly through the commitment of the then Area Safety Rep from the CWU's Greater Merseyside Amal Branch; grew to become a regional campaign with the support of Carl Webb the NW Region Secratary.

But, there is much more to this and the ongoing campaign which relies on those volunteers involved in local IWMD campaign groups.

Now that he is the CWU's Health & Safety Policy Advisor, Jamie has continued with his commitment to the International Worker's Memorial Day events and has updated his national report on the 'Light Up Purple' campaign.
